Basics Landscaping & Construction Co., Inc. and Hewlynn Home & Garden Center have some of the most talented and hardworking people in the business, combining their skills and resources to provide you with nothing but the best.
We have over 50 team members working hard to make sure all of your dreams become a reality. We have counter people in our retail and wholesale locations to get you what you need quickly with knowledge to answer all of your questions. The office staff will answer all of your phone calls and questions while handling your billing quickly and correctly. We have sales designers to incorporate all of your ideas and dreams and get the project done in or under your budget. Don’t forget about the foremen who will execute the plan flawlessly and the assistant foremen to help make sure the crews and foremen have everything under control and moving as planned. The crew members will work tirelessly to provide you with excellence and quality day in and out. The yard staff and truck drivers make sure you get your product order on time and in great condition. Michelle Crimmins
Customer Relations
Michelle Crimmins has led the office of Basics Landscaping Co., Inc. since 1997. Michelle prides herself on not only remembering her clients but also making them feel comfortable and valued as the important client that they truly are. Attention to detail and follow through starts from the top down in the office to ensure that each client receives the total experience that they deserve. Whether we are sealing your driveway or designing the poolscape of your dreams, you will receive the same care and attention. You will also see her in Hewlynn Home & Garden Center where she will assist in landscape and plant material choices or get your pool in order, all with a pleasant smile on her face.
Jay Bernstein
Sales & Design Manager
Some people might call him obsessive about detail but there is no bigger compliment in his eyes. Using his experience with Hewlynn and Basics since 1988 and his years of continual education, he has all the knowledge necessary to build the property of your dreams. Thousands of our clients swear by his attention to detail, his ability to always finish a project on time and the follow up to carry out everything promised and then some. People often comment on how Jay remembers “everything” and gets it done without any reminders no matter how small the detail. He will treat your property as if it was his own. Team oriented and motivated, Jay works to develop long-term relationships with clients and the rest of the organization. Jay has the values and mission of the company as his top priority.
Theresa Farina
Customer Relations Representative & Bookkeeper
Theresa brings years of customer service and bookkeeping experience to the office. She dedicates herself as being a team player and a liaison between Basics staff and our clients to ensure the highest level of efficiency and standards set by Basics. Whether she calls you regarding one of our many services or helping out in our Garden Center you can be assured she will go the extra mile to make sure your Basics & Hewlynn experience exceeds your expectations.
Franklyn Maradiaga
Irrigation Technician
Franklyn has grown and progressed into his position here at Basics Landscaping & Construction. He is an amazing teammate and has worked to become our Irrigation and Lighting Foreman. His ability to anticipate the needs of those around him makes him invaluable and we foresee him continuing to grow with the company and continuing to do great things!
Erlis Vanegas
Landscape Maintenance Foreman
Erlis can be found on his properties overseeing his crew to ensure that the attention to detail our clients expect is being provided each and every week. He is a schooled apprentice for turf chemical applications, which enables him to identify and diagnose treatment for lawn ailments. While Erlis may not be the most outspoken individual, rest assured that he is a trained and knowledgeable professional with the best interest for your property in mind.
Henry Cornejo
Landscape Construction Foreman
Henry is recognized by his peers as a team player and a leader. He works well with all of the sales personnel and foremen company wide. Henry is an intricate part of the design layout process. With so many different types of materials and concepts, it can become overwhelming but he always maintains his sense of humor and keeps the clients’ needs and company values always as a top priority.
Hugo Quintana
Assistant Masonry Foreman
Hugo’s position is to ensure the efficiency and workflow of our masonry projects and he does so, with the utmost care. By continuously monitoring the progress and safety of our team, it allows us to repeatedly produce excellence. He diligently remains aware of the customers needs and is great at keeping our team on target with time and details. Hugo is a very special member of our team!

Assistant Foreman
Yino has proven himself to be committed to excellence. He prides himself on being a team player and cares deeply about the result of his hard work. Having excelled in his training, he pays close attention to detail and continues to hone his craft with great progress. His anticipation of the needs of others has made him become a vital part of our team. He continues to grow with our company and has left incredible impressions on our clients.

Mechanic
As Basics full time in house mechanic, Juan maintains and repairs all vehicles, tools and equipment. Juan is quick to identify the problem and provide a prompt solution to ensure the crews have what they need to keep working.
