Sedum - this is a great late summer and fall plant, offering foliage interest earlier in the season then a colorful display of flowers in the fall. They produce green broccoli like buds in mid summer, which open into lovely pink flower heads, then deepening to a rich bronze color. Even the dead flower heads add winter interest. Sedum offers several types of perennials all great for border plantng.
