Ponds with filter systems may need filter poly pads to be cleaned. If this is not the case and you have a pond-less waterfall then you may need to apply an algaecide additive or a small amount of pool shock to the water. When you have fish in the pond make sure you follow directions carefully with all chemicals also be sure to check your UV bulb and pump, the bulb can be burnt and the pump can be clogged.

You probably need to add a little water to it. Even though you think you don’t have a pond, you do. A liner is placed under the rocks to hold water to operate a waterfall so for future practice you should always see just a small amount of water at the top of the rocks so you know the pond is full and this will not happen. If the pond is still running slow and it is full the bottom of the pump could be clogged and you need to dig the pump out and clean off the filter on the pump, this occurrence is rare. Please call if you think this is the problem, running your pump dry can severly damage your pump. Unplug pump immediately if it is not operating properly.

Usually you should run it when you are going to appreciate it. They are built to run 24-7 but, these pumps do require a lot of electric depending on the gph (gallon per hour). We recommend 8 to 12 hours everyday to keep the water fresh and/or to get enough Oxygen to the fish, if there are fish.

A small amount of water lost can sometimes happen during the hotter times of the year. On a hot day a pond can lose up to 1 1/2” of water from normal evaporation and splash-off. Depending on how much rock boulders and gravel are used can cause a decent amount of evaporation alone. The temperature of the air can determine the amount of evaporation as well. You should be watching to make sure the water doesn’t drop past a certain level, this can cause a problem to the pump and accessories. If the feature loses water fast when it is on or drops when it is off then call to have someone come and take a look.
