FAQ's Cement & Ashpalt
Small minor cracks are very common on cement and can happen from many different things such as a very hot day, too much or too little water, and the ground below.  Since we don’t make the cement and it is not an exact science therefore we cannot predict or guarantee the minor imperfections in the cement.  Hairline cracks can and will happen and will not affect the longevity of your cement.
Usually within 12 hours your cement is cured enough to get wet.  Sometimes on really hot days within a few hours it’s actually a good idea to lightly spray your cement with water as you might see your installers doing so.  This helps cement to keep cooler while the drying process occurs and this may help prevent the cement from cracking.
It is recommended to wait 6-12 months before sealing your new asphalt driveway.
Most cement will cure to the touch in a matter of hours, however it will not be properly cured for any significant weight for approximately 30 days.  While this does not mean you need to completely stay off your cement for a month, it does mean you should limit the amount and type of traffic to the area.
There should be no foot traffic on the new asphalt for 24 hours.  Vehicles should remain completely off the driveway for a minimum of 7 days.  During summer months, it is important not to leave objects with weight on the new asphalt or sinking may occur due to the asphalt softening from the heat.
